Well-being

At Kinmel Lodge, we devote ourselves to supporting you to be proactive about managing your health and well-being. We want you to get the most out of life, to enjoy your chosen lifestyle and maintain life skills that support your independence and mobility.
Positive well-being means experiencing an overall feeling of happiness and satisfaction with life and is achieved through being able to do those things that bring you pleasure and contentment.
Your well-being levels can be enhanced by taking part in a balance of activities that help you to be physically active, mentally stimulated and socially connected. All supported by a nutritious diet can make a real difference for you.
We’ll measure your well-being to evidence how we can improve your overall health and independence as well as provide you with key points on your balance, stability and how to prevent falls.
If required we will liaise with the falls prevention team at Conwy County Council, who can carry out a personal falls risk assessment with you. They will then decide on the best course of action to reduce your risk of having a fall.
This may include one or more of the following interventions:
Exercise classes: There is strong evidence that these can help improve balance, strength and confidence and have a positive social benefit too. This includes Postural Stability Instruction (PSI).
One-to-one community physiotherapy and individualised home exercise plan.
Other activities in the community such as Tai Chi, over 60s gentle circuit classes, National Exercise Referral Scheme (NERS).
Home safety assessment and adaptations by Occupational Therapy or Care and Repair.
Medication review by GP or Pharmacist.
Referral to Podiatry or Optometry services.
*A small fee will be charged for some activities.
The North Wales Falls Prevention Programme is supported by partners from the NHS and the local authority.
Feel better in yourself, motivated to do what you can, and continue to enjoy hobbies and interests or get involved with group activities. Better well-being can also offer a sense of calmness, and help you to rest and relax more effectively, balancing mind and body.
